A
project has recently been completed for a large food processing company
based in Saudi Arabia. Having successfully won a contract to supply a
complete condensed milk filling and canning line. Our team of engineers
was able to specify, source and supply all of the machines required for
the project. Machinery supplied included, magnetic hoists, feed conveyers,
de-scrambler, can feed and cleaning systems, M&P 24 head rotary piston
filling machine, round can seamer, can rinsing unit, retort complete with
basket loader, also associated instrumentation and control units were
supplied.
A factory layout most suited to their operation was then developed, the
plant installed and commissioned. The operating staff were then comprehensively
trained to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the line. As with
all M&P projects the line has been supported by our
spares and services department throughout the shakedown period and
there after.

A leading filling company
based in the south of England has consulted with M&P over the last few
years on a number of ongoing projects. We have managed the development
of complete filling, closing and packaging lines as the company has developed
in the market sector. M&P have provided solutions to factory layout that
make most effective use of the limited factory space available.
Projects have involved the installation of single machines, complete new
filling lines and the integration and automation of existing plant. This
ongoing relationship has proven that using our expertise in filling line
systems integration, we can not only provide low cost filling lines but
also expand capacity as your business grows.

Mushy pea manufacturing has come a long way in the last 40 years, according
to leading national supplier Lockwood Foods.
The Derbyshire-based company has pioneered a range of microwaveable products
– with the assistance of M&P Engineering.
They approached M&P Engineering who in 2001 installed a 12 head depositor
over tray forming machine to help them fully exploit a growing market.
So successful has the operation been that a further unit may be installed,
depending on future demand.
Production director Richard Spencer believes the microwaveable product
range is the future of their business, with the M&P machine playing a
front-line role:
“The biggest reason for purchasing the M&P machine was that we then decided
there was a market for a single individual portion of ready-cooked mushy
peas.”
Lockwood’s relationship with M&P flourished after a machine demonstration
was initially set-up with another client. “M&P suggested a visit to an
existing customer, we saw the machine in operation and were very impressed,”
remarked Richard. “There was no drip, it was a clean cut off which means
you have a perfect seal. This machine is on the frontline of our business.
We have not had any problems with it, it fills very accurately, is fast-running
at up to 60 portions per minute, and is very reliable and cost effective.”
Ease of use and low maintenance are further benefits, according to Richard
who commented: “Removing the pistons is a simple operation, you don’t
need any tools, so that saves time and money for us. It’s a nice machine
to work with.”
Overall Lockwood Foods are very happy with their relationship with Heywood-based
M&P Engineering, that since 1930 has been a leading UK manufacturer of
specialist filling, packaging and process equipment, from single machines
to full turnkey installations.
M&P – who have recently moved to prestigious new headquarters at Trafford
Park, Manchester - enjoys a respected industry reputation for producing
reliable innovative equipment that lasts for years, and it’s a view fully
endorsed by Lockwood Foods.
Richard concluded: “As company they have been very helpful and understand
our requirements so that everything runs very smoothly. Having placed
the initial order they loaned us a single head machine and kept things
going for us after our own had broken down. We have complete confidence
in them as a company. The machine is a long-term investment. Depending
on future demand there is always the option to install another machine
and we would have no hesitation in doing so.”
