Thanksgiving is a time of year when friends and family gather to give thanks and share a delicious meal.  It’s a time to reflect on gratitude, share blessings with loved ones, and appreciate the abundance of the harvest season. While the star of the Thanksgiving table is usually the turkey, the side dishes play an equally vital role in creating a memorable meal.

And what better way to bring comfort and warmth to your Thanksgiving table than with a mouthwatering, cheesy onion casserole? Side dishes come in all shapes and sizes, from creamy mashed potatoes to tangy cranberry sauce. This year, try our recipe below:

Ingredients:

2 tbs. butter or margarine
3 large sweet onions or 4 medium white or yellow onions
2 cups shredded cheese (8 oz.)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2/3 cups milk
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 baguette, sliced

Recipe:

Slice the onions. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat and add the onions. Cook until clear. In a shallow casserole pam, layer the onions, 2/3 cheese and salt and pepper to taste.

In a saucepan, hear the soup, milk, and soy sauce. Add this mixture over the onions and stir gently to mix. Top up with the bread slices and cook at 350 for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, push the bread slices under the sauce and top up with the remaining cheese. Cook for another 15 minutes until the cheese is melted.
