October means summer has come to an end, and it is back to school time. After the summer holiday, it is now time to get back into a routine. This means lunchboxes are once again being put together, and families all over the UK will try to send their kids to school with the healthiest snacks, which in a lot of cases include fresh cut fruit and vegetable snacks.

Over the years there has been an increase in awareness when it comes to healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. People are also busier nowadays, so snacking on the go seems to be more and more a part of everyday life. Consumers are more likely to opt for fresher, healthier snacks, especially for the kids!

There has been an increase in kid-friendly snacks (the healthy kind), including pre-sliced apples or the ever so loved crudites, as well as pre-cut fruit bags such as grapes.

As for the adults, plant-based eating has also seen an increase in popularity over the last few years, so vegetables and fruits are also being consumed more and more. As well as this, it seems that a lot of the salty snack options out there are now being replaced by healthier and more innovative options. Dried fruit and vegetable chips are two of the many examples.

As the demand keeps growing, we at M&P Engineering keep growing with it by investing in innovative technology and equipment. We have been manufacturing food preparation equipment for over 50 years, and we manufacture products you can trust.

As part of our food preparation range, M&P Engineering manufactures high quality fresh cut produce machinery, such as the Carousel Grid Cutting Machine.

This versatile fresh cut machine is capable of cutting vegetables and fruit into fries, batons, wedges, petals, and slices. With an output of 4,800 pieces an hour, M&P’s Carousel Grid Cutting Machine is one of the most productive machines of its kind on the market. See it in action here.

As part of this range, we also manufacture the Radish Top & Tailer. It tops and tails the radish, at a rate of up to 100 per minute. The top and tail knives of the machine float to adjust the position to the size of the radish, reducing waste and allowing operation on a wide range of radish sizes and shapes. Because of its manual adjustment of the top and tail knives, no change of parts is required.
