The White Lisbon Onion is a type of spring onion, made popular by its reliability. Sometimes referred to as a scallion or bunching onion, the White Lisbon Onion thrives in a wide range of soils, is heat and cold tolerant, and although it’s most successfully sown from March to September, it can also be sown in autumn for early spring harvests.
The stems are quick to develop and very hardy. Because they can be harvested throughout the year, they make a great “filler” in between other slow growing or seasonal crops.
With an excellent mild flavour, which gets more pungent the older the onion gets, it’s perfect for use in salads. They are very popular in Asian dishes, but can be used in many dishes, perfect to get your creativity out; try them on mashed potatoes with some cheese, delicious!
